CSK's veteran off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin, achieved a significant milestone on Tuesday as he surpassed Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar to become the third-highest wicket-taker in the history of the IPL. 

R Ashwin Becomes The Third-Highest Wicket Taker In IPL

During CSK's clash against PBKS, Ashwin took two wickets in four overs, giving away 48 runs at an economy rate of 12. These two wickets brought his IPL tally to 185, pushing him ahead of Bhuvneshwar, who has 184 wickets in 179 matches. 

Ashwin’s journey in the IPL has been impressive, with 185 wickets in 217 matches at an average of 29.92 and an economy rate of 7.18.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has also had a distinguished career in the IPL, with 184 wickets in 179 matches, at an average of 27.28 and an economy rate of 7.57. His best bowling figures stand at 5/19. 

Most Wickets In IPL History 

It is important to mention that currently, Ashwin sits behind only Yuzvendra Chahal, who has 206 wickets in 164 matches, and former spin maestro Piyush Chawla, who has 192 wickets in 192 matches.

Ashwin’s achievement came amid a tough match for CSK, who lost to PBKS by 18 runs in a high-scoring encounter. The star of the match was PBKS opener Priyansh Arya, who scored his maiden IPL century, leading his team to a formidable total of 219 runs.  

With the win, PBKS climbed to the fourth spot in the points table with three wins and a loss, while CSK remained at ninth place with a single win and four losses.
