It has recently come to light that the Indian and Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw, who suffered a knee injury during the English domestic One-Day, will be out of action for a long time. Following his knee injury, the BCCI officials reportedly consulted experts to ascertain whether any form of surgical procedure.

At present, Shaw has a substantial amount of swelling around his knee and is expected to undergo a rehabilitation period of somewhere between 3 to 4 months. A BCCI source stated that an MRI scan was done which later revealed a Grade-II tear of the posterior cruciate ligament.

"An MRI was done after he got injured and it revealed a Grade-II tear of the posterior cruciate ligament. He was sent to the NCA where we found that there is still swelling in his knee. We have decided to consult Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala in this case. It will take at least four months for him to play competitive cricket again," the source stated.

Earlier, the Indian board had allowed Shaw to skip the Deodhar Trophy and fly to England to play domestic cricket there. He was in the midst of an exceptional run in the One-Day English Cup where he smashed an impressive double ton (a 244 off 153 against Somerset).

Two days later, Shaw notched up a blazing ton against Durham scoring 125 off 76 balls at a scintillating strike rate of 164.47 which allowed Northamptonshire to chase down 199 in the space of 24.2 overs.

As Shaw continues to recuperate from his injury, his return to competitive cricket might take longer than previously expected.
