Emerging young batter Prithvi Shaw had a heartwarming reunion with Delhi Capitals' skipper Rishabh Pant at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru on Wednesday, September 6.
To commemorate their get-together, the dynamic duo posed for a photograph. Shaw sported a red T-shirt paired with blue trousers in the picture, while Pant was clad in a white tee and vibrant shorts.
With a caption on his Instagram story, Shaw expressed joy at the reunion, saying, "So good to see him after long @rishabhpant," along with a heart emoji.
On the professional front, Shaw is rehabilitating for a knee injury he sustained while representing Northamptonshire in the One Day Cup last month. Unfortunately, his stint with Northamptonshire in 2023 was cut short due to this injury, limited to just four games.
However, during his brief stay, he made a significant impact, amassing 429 runs, including a record-breaking 244 off 153 deliveries against Somerset in the One-Day Cup. The club announced that Shaw would return to play for Northamptonshire in the 2024 county season, confirming his availability for the County Championship and the One-Day Cup.
Medical scans revealed that Shaw had suffered a Grade 2 PCL (Posterior Cruciate Ligament) injury, which did not necessitate surgery. Nevertheless, his participation in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy remains uncertain.
As for Pant, the wicketkeeper-batter has been out of action since the beginning of 2023 due to his recovery from a severe car accident in December 2022. However, Pant is not just making headlines for his incredible recovery but also for his remarkable journey back to fitness. The National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru has been the backdrop for his inspiring comeback.
While Pant will be absent from the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup, he remains under the careful supervision of the academy's experts, dedicating himself to regaining match fitness. He recently visited Team India's training camp in Alur, engaging in heartwarming interactions with teammates before they departed for Sri Lanka to participate in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023.
