It has been four days since India lifted their maiden World Cup title, but the entire nation is still celebrating the success of the Indian team. The Women in Blue recently travelled to Delhi to interact with PM Narendra Modi.
The videos and pictures of the special conversation quickly went viral on the internet, but the one that caught the most attention was the group picture, where all the squad members posed with PM Modi with the trophy and their winners' medals.
Rawal spotted with winner's medal in photo-ceremony
The fans quickly noticed Pratika Rawal, who was also spotted wearing a medal. The still spread like wildfire on social media as the internet was happy to see Rawal with a medal. Notably, for the unversed, Rawal, who played seven out of nine games and finished the tournament as India's second leading run getter in the tournament, was ruled out of the competition after an injury in the last group-stage match.
Shafali Verma replaced Rawal, and according to the ICC rules, the members who are only part of the 15-member squad get the medal. So how did Rawal get her medal? Did ICC make an exception for the injured India opener.
How was Pratika Rawal spotted with the ICC medal?
There has been fake news spreading on the internet that the ICC amended their rules, but that is not the case. For the unversed, India star Amanjot Kaur showed a special gesture towards Rawal and gave her medal to the injured India star for the photograph with PM Modi.
Even the same photo confirmed the same, as Amanjot Kaur was the only one without a medal in that photo. Kaur's gesture was heavily praised on social media.
