The IND A vs SA A 2nd unofficial Test is underway, and what comes as a surprise is the unusual ‘Indian’ pitch prepared at the BCCI Centre of Excellence ground.

Indian pitches are typically known for their flat, batting-friendly surfaces that offer assistance to spinners. However, the rather uncanny appearance of the CoE pitch has left netizens buzzing on social media.

The surface at the CoE is completely green, arguably a ‘swing heaven’ for seamers, which is quite unusual for Indian conditions. The English/Australian-style pitch has caught fans’ attention online as India A, featuring players like KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Dhruv Jurel, bats against the visitors.

Fans react to 'strange' CoE pitch

The pitch looks so lush that it almost blends with the outfield, making it hard to distinguish where the field ends and the pitch begins. Netizens were quick to notice this peculiarity and took to social media to troll the curators for preparing such a track in India. Let's take a look at how fans reacted to the green pitch:

"Good idea, IND A hardly need match practice against RSA A on a ranked turner or a typical subcontinent wicket. It's much more productive & rational if we bat on a green top against would-be South African international bowlers. A mini South African condition in India 😁😁" - @apratim_nandi

"Pitch❌Garden✅" - @cover_drive_

"I will bring my goats" - @venkymama100

Green pitch unlikely for South Africa Tests

While the green CoE surface has already caused the loss of two wickets for India A, the Eden Gardens pitch, where India will play their first Test against South Africa on November 14, generally offers a spin-friendly track with some movement for seamers in the early hours.

Though the Guwahati stadium pitch is yet to be revealed for the Tests, it is safe to say that the greenery seen at the CoE will be hard to replicate at any other venue in India.
