PCB Plans To Host India Matches In Lahore, Karachi & Rawalpindi For Champions Trophy 2025

The tussle between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is about to take a whole new curve.

According to the latest reports, the Pakistan Board plans to host Indian matches for the upcoming Champions Trophy (CT 2025) in three of its biggest cities: Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi.

Meanwhile, if the sources are to be believed, the BCCI will not send the Indian team to Pakistan for CT 2025 due to the geopolitical differences between the two nations.

Interestingly, on Monday, former BCCI President and Indian cabinet minister Anurag Thakur shared the Government of India's opinion on India's chances to travel to Pakistan for the ICC event.

The Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports emphasised that cricket and terrorism cannot co-exist, taking a dig at the current chaos in Pakistan state.

Earlier in 2023, Pakistan hosted their first-ever multinational tournament after the Asia Cup 2008, i.e. the Asia Cup 2023. However, the BCCI had their stance clear as they ensured all India matches were hosted in Sri Lanka.

The Indian board has left the decision regarding the team's fate in travelling to the upcoming ICC event to the Indian government. If India doesn't agree with PCB, then the tournament could be moved out of Pakistan, or CT 2025 could be contested in a hybrid model similar to the Asia Cup 2023.

Nevertheless, the Champions Trophy—last hosted by England in 2017—is going to an eight-team tournament. In February and March 2025, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Australia, England, South Africa, and New Zealand will battle for glory.
