PCB in crisis [Source: AP Photo]
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is in crisis at the moment and in a shocking development on Tuesday, PCB decided to cut players' match fee by 90% in the National T20 Cup which will commence on Friday, March 14. PCB is the fourth richest board after India, England, and Australia, but this has created an embarrassing situation for them.
How much money will the players get after deduction?
As reported by Arfa Feroz Zake of Geo News, almost 90% salary will be slashed and after the deduction, the domestic players will only get 10,000 PKR per match and earlier they used to get 40,000 PKR.
The condition is worse for the reserve players, who, after the amount deduction will only receive 5,000 PKR per match.
Why did PCB slash such a big amount?
This move comes as a surprise as PCB recently hosted the Champions Trophy and did it successfully. However, PCB cited financial constraints and budget restructuring as the main reason for cost cutting.
Lack of revenues, no major sponsorship are the key reasons as to why PCB have decided to take this drastic decision. The poor performance of the national team across formats and the lack of interest in the domestic circuit has led to very less cash inflow and it is also touted to be a major reason for PCB's drastic measures.
PCB allocated a major chunk of money in developing stadiums for the Champions Trophy and lacked proper allocation of funds led to this stage.
