On Sunday, March 9, the ninth edition of the Champions Trophy came to an end after India beat Pakistan in the finals to clinch their 3rd title. It has been a controversial tournament right from the beginning.
Firstly, there was a tussle between the BCCI and PCB over the hosting rights as the BCCI refused to travel to Pakistan over security reasons. Nonetheless, the two boards agreed for a hybrid model.
Mohsin Naqvi Makes A Tweet On Champions Trophy
Despite that, there were several controversies revolving around Champions Trophy. Recently another row erupted after PCB officials were missing from the medal ceremony. The fans complaint that despite Pakistan being the host, the podium missed a solitary PCB representative.
In the latest events, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has indirectly hit back at India and penned a note on the success of the Champions Trophy. Naqvi congratulated all the concerned parties and all the teams but did not mention India.
He didn't directly target India, but just congratulated all the teams that travelled to Paksitan in his post.
"I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated PCB team, the vigilant law enforcement agencies, the supportive provincial governments, the esteemed ICC officials, and the phenomenal cricket teams that travelled to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025. Your commitment and collective efforts ensured the seamless execution of this prestigious tournament, transforming it into a resounding success. Pakistan takes immense pride in hosting this global spectacle, and your contributions have truly made it a historic event for cricket fans worldwide," the tweet read.
Recently, ICC also broke silence on the medal ceremony row and remarked that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi couldn't travel to Dubai for CT final, but failed to explain why PCB CEO who was present in the stadium, wasn't invited to the podium.
