The stage is set and the fans are ready for the Qualifier 2 of the Indian Premier League as the Mumbai Indians will battle against Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The MI side is oozing with confidence after thrashing Gujarat Titans in the Eliminator on Friday.

On the other hand, PBKS lost a one-sided game against RCB in the Qualifier 1, but due them finishing at the top of the points table, the Shreyas Iyer led side will have another shot of reaching the finale but that chance comes against a strong MI unit.

The consequences of the match will also have an affect on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who have already reached the finale, but will secretly hope for a PBKS win and here's the interesting reason.

Why RCB will root for PBKS instead of MI

The Rajat Patidar led RCB have been in red-hot form this season and irrespective of the opponent, they should feel the superiority power, however, a win for PBKS just eases things out for them.

In the 18 years of IPL, PBKS have reached the finals only once (2014) season, and they lost the match in a close-fought encounter. The team has little experience of playing in big finals and RCB can exploit that as the nerves will be high for the Shreyas Iyer led side. RCB, themselves have lost all the finale, but the team has more experience of tackling high-pressure situations.

On the other hand, if MI set a date with RCB, then it could cause trouble for the Red Army. MI have already won the IPL title 5 times and have lost just one finale (2010). The likes of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult know what it takes to win the IPL and that experience will come into play against RCB who have never won the league. In the last five IPL finals which MI have reached, they have won all 5, showcasing their 100% dominance.
