On the other hand, the WMPL will feature four teams, Pune Warriors, Ratnagiri Jets, Solapur Smashers, and Raigad Royals. In the auction, 409 male and 249 female cricketers were sold to different franchises.
All matches from the MPL will be broadcast on Star Sports 2 and streamed on Jio Hotstar, while the WMPL will be available on Jio Hotstar only.
Interestingly, MCA president Rohit Pawar shared that each district under MCA will get INR 75 lakh to improve cricket facilities.
Ratnagiri Jets To Begin As Defending Champions
In 2024, Ratnagiri Jets clinched the Maharashtra Premier League (MPL) title with a solid 24-run win over Nashik Titans in the final. The Jets set a target of 160/8 due to the strength in their middle order after they batted first.
In response, the Nashik Titans struggled against disciplined bowling and finished at 136/9 in 20 overs. Satyajeet Bachhav performed strongly with bat and ball for Ratnagiri's all-round performance. With this victory, Ratnagiri Jets won their second back-to-back MPL title, continuing their dominance in the league.
