Pakistan registered a comprehensive win over Oman in the fourth match of the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup in Dubai. Captain Rajat Patidar fired up Central Zone’s prospects with a sizzling century on Day 2 of the Duleep Trophy 2025 final. In other news, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal has spoken his mind regarding the upcoming controversial India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 match.
Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Friday, September 12.
Mohammad Haris Engineers Pakistan’s Big Win Over Oman
Pakistan pulverized Oman by 93 runs in match four of the 2025 Asia Cup at the Dubai International Stadium. Batting first, Mohammad Haris smeared 66 off 43 balls to catapult the Pakistani total to a competitive 160-7 in 20 overs. For Oman, Shah Faisal (3-34) and Aamir Kaleem (3-31) picked up three wickets each in the innings.
In response, Oman folded up for just 67 in 16.4 overs. Both openers fell early to Pakistan’s part-timer Saim Ayub with the new ball, before Sufiyaan Muqeem (2-7) and Faheem Ashraf (2-6) made their presence felt with two wickets each. Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz and Shaheen Afridi also chipped in with a wicket.
Saim Ayub Joins Mohammad Rizwan In Unwanted PAK List
Pakistan opener Saim Ayub fell for a first-ball duck against Oman in the fourth match of the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup. The young all-rounder was trapped in front by Oman new ball bowler Shah Faisal in the first over of the match. Through the course of his latest batting failure, Saim Ayub joined former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez as well as active cricketer Mohammad Rizwan in a shambolic list of most T20I ducks as an opener for the ‘Men in Green’ (four each). Babar Azam continues to top the unwanted chart with six ducks, followed by Kamran Akmal with five ducks to his name.
Rajat Patidar, Yash Light Up Duleep Final With Pacy Century
Central Zone reached 384-5 from 104 overs by stumps on Day 2 of the Duleep Trophy 2025 final against South Zone in Bengaluru. Resuming their innings at 50-0 while in pursuit of South’s mere 149-run total, Central captain Rajat Patidar at number four bludgeoned 101 runs off just 115 balls with 12 boundaries and two huge sixes. Yash Rathod also made an unbeaten 137* off 188 balls with 11 boundaries and a six as Central Zone took a commanding 235-run first innings lead.
IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal Breaks Silence On India Vs Pakistan
Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman Arun Dhumal has broken his silence regarding Team India’s upcoming controversial Asia Cup 2025 match against Pakistan in the UAE. Addressing the public outcry over the circumstances of the match, particularly considering the cross border and geopolitical fallout between the two nuclear-armed nations earlier this year, Dhumal has stated that the BCCI is simply following the Indian government guidelines. As per the guidelines, India is barred from facing Pakistan in any bilateral sporting events but can go up against them in multi-nation tournaments.
Harbhajan Singh Likely To Attend BCCI AGM
Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh will likely attend the annual general meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) later this month. As per a report, the legendary Indian cricketer will be nominated as the representative of the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) for the meeting, where as many as five key office bearers of the board will be elected. Harbhajan will also be joined by former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, who was nominated by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).
