Captain of Central Zone Rajat Patidar dominated the proceedings in the Duleep Trophy final against South Zone at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground in Bengaluru. The 32-year-old right-handed batsman played a masterclass inning, scoring a quick century and taking his side to a dominant position.

Patidar has been unstoppable in this edition of the tournament. After already hitting a century in the quarter-final, he once again showcased his brilliance in the final.

His innings came off just 112 balls, comprising 12 fours and 2 sixes, which was his 15th first-class century. His aggressive but calm batting put a tremendous amount of pressure on the South Zone bowlers.

Rajat Patidar Dominates Duleep Trophy 2025 Final

The innings started with Central Zone being given a good start by a half-century stand between Danish Malewar and Akshay Wadkar.

However, after key wickets fell, including Malewar’s dismissal for 53, the team needed a strong leader at the crease. Rajat Patidar obliged, pairing with Yash Rathod to form a century partnership, leading Central Zone to establish the lead.

He eventually got out after reaching his century, caught by South Zone captain Azharuddin off the bowling of Gurjpanit Singh. Regardless, his impact will likely lead his team to a comfortable position in the second inning.

Patidar Makes Case For India Comeback With Sublime Form

Interestingly, Rajat Patidar’s form in the Duleep Trophy 2025 has been sensational. He has scored 369 runs in 4 innings, making him the highest run-scorer so far.  His regular performances will help him make a stronger case for a return to India's Test side.

It's important to note that, in his debut Test series against England in 2024, Patidar contributed just 63 runs from three games, and in a single ODI, he scored 22 runs, following which he was left out of the national team.

However, if he continues this kind of form in domestic cricket, Rajat Patidar’s knocks will reach the selectors' doors sooner rather than later.
