Pat Cummins finds himself on the verge of some huge records as he gears up to lead Australia in the high-octane World Test Championship 2025 final against South Africa at Lord’s. Pat Cummins has taken 294 Test wickets in 67 matches of his career. With six more scalps, he will complete 300 Test wickets to become only the eighth Australian bowler, and only the sixth paceman to reach the landmark figure.
2. All-time WTC record
Pat Cummins is the second highest wicket-taker in World Test Championship (WTC) history with 200 wickets from 47 Tests. He finds himself just 10 wickets away from his teammate Nathan Lyon for the all-time WTC record.
3. Nears Jasprit Bumrah in 2023-25 cycle
Pat Cummins can also surpass Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah to become the most successful bowler of the ongoing WTC 2023-25 cycle. With 73 wickets from 17 Tests at an average of 24.54, Cummins is just five wickets away from Bumrah’s collection of 77 from 15 matches at 15.09.
4. Huge captaincy record
If Pat Cummins leads Australia to victory over Temba Bavuma’s South Africa, the legendary speedster will become the first captain in history to win two WTC titles. Moreover, he will also surpass Ricky Ponting to become the most decorated Australian skipper in history, in terms of number of ICC World titles (ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup and WTC). He previous led Australia to 2023 WTC and 2023 ODI World Cup victories, defeating India on both occasions.
The 2025 WTC final between Australia and South Africa will be played between Wednesday, June 11 and Sunday, June 15. The match will be hosted by the iconic Lord’s in London.
