Pat Cummins Beat Virat Kohli, Jadeja To Clinch ICC Men's Cricketer of the Year Award

ICC ODI World Cup-winning Australian captain Pat Cummins was honored with the prestigious Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the ICC Men's Cricketer of the Year for the year 2023, owing to his extraordinary achievements throughout the calendar year. He beat the likes of Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, and his teammate Travis Head to secure the prestigious achievement.

Cummins wins POTY Award

Pat Cummins, the Australian all-rounder, witnessed a magical year in 2023. He led his team to victory in the prestigious World Test Championship finals and bagged a record sixth ODI World Cup title. Not only that, Cummins led the Australian side to retain a high-stake Ashes series against England.

That being said, Pat Cummins' contributions with the ball and ball were as significant as his presence as a leader this year. Overall, Cummins hit 422 runs and clipped 59 wickets across 24 games in 2023, and had great stats throughout the year 2023.

His notable contributions came against England in the Ashes during the Birmingham Test. Cummins scored a knock of 38 runs under steep conditions to lower the opposition's lead to 10 runs. In response, Pat picked up four wickets to keep his side in the hunt.

Besides, Pat Cummins ended the year with a 10-wicket haul against Pakistan that helped his side seal the three-game series. 

The highlight of Cummins' remarkable year was surely the ODI World Cup finals. Playing in front of the gigantic away crowd, he not only absorbed the pressure but kept his team motivated throughout to capture a historic title win. 

He lived up to his word of silencing a big crowd. Not only that, but Cummins contributed with two crucial wickets on the eve of the finals to redefine his legacy as an Australian skipper further.
