Sharjah Warriors

After losing the tournament opener to defending champions the Gulf Giants, Sharjah Warriors returned to winning ways with a comprehensive victory over the in-form Dubai Capitals on Monday.

The pace unit induced pressure by restricting the flow of runs in the powerplay. After Gurbaz and Warner gave in to the pressure, the Warriors' bowling attack chipped wickets at regular intervals to restrict the Capitals to a decent total of 170 runs.

While the chase was steep, Johnson Charles unleashed wrath with his willow to win a few points for his side single-handedly. Charles hit 93 runs off 51 balls, which included 8 boundaries and 6 maximums. Basil Hameed and Daniel Sams added 20-odd runs to accomplish a successful chase with seven balls to spare.

Needless to say, the Warriors managed to get the winning momentum and had a lot of positives to take away from the successful game. However, the only area of improvement is death bowling.

The bowlers have a tendency to release the pressure built towards the second half of the innings, which is not a good sign. The rest is fine, as Sharjah Warriors seem to be heading in the right direction.

MI Emirates

MI Emirates breathed fire with the ball during its previous matchup against Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. Trent Boult dismantled the top order as half the Knight Riders side returned to the pavilion under powerplay.

Rohid Khan then removed the tail to bowl out the Knight Riders to a lowly total of 95 runs. While the chase was a cakewalk, Kushal Perera and skipper Nicholas Pooran shifted gears to lift the run rate. 

MI Emirates ended up chasing the total under 10 overs to move to the top of the points table with a handsome run rate of +1.582.

It goes without saying that MI Emirates has nothing to worry about. They have all the areas covered. The pace unit, especially, remains its biggest strength. Trent Boult and Fazal Farooqui complement each other and form a lethal duo. Overall, the Emirates will surely start as favorites against the Sharjah Warriors.
