In a shocking moment after Pakistan’s third consecutive ODI loss to New Zealand in Mount Maunganui, all-rounder Khushdil Shah was caught on camera attempting to physically confront a group of spectators. A few fans reportedly abused him, prompting an aggressive reaction from Shah.

Nothing went right for Pakistan in their recent white-ball series tour to New Zealand. First, they lost the T20I series by 1-4 and got swept in the 3-game ODI series.

However, the men in green have once again landed in controversy as Khushdil Shah was caught having a physical confrontation with spectators at Mount Maunganui.

Khushdil Shah Loses Cool At Fans As Shocking Visuals Captured

The ugly scene unfolded after Pakistan was bowled out for 221 in a 42-over chase, falling 43 runs short of New Zealand’s 264.

According to reports, Khushdil Shah lost his temper after being verbally taunted by spectators, alleged to be Afghan nationals, who mocked the team’s poor performance.

While the all-rounder warned them to stop the abuses, the spectators reportedly didn’t listen to him and the situation escalated after Shah lost his cool. He apparently tried to jump the barricades to physically confront the fans but was stopped by security from doing so.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has since condemned the incident, promising to review the situation and ensure player-fan interactions remain safe and respectful.

Interestingly, this is not the first time a Pakistan cricketer has been involved in a confrontation with fans. During the 2024 T20 World Cup in the USA, fast bowler Haris Rauf also reacted angrily to heckling following Pakistan's group-stage exit.

Khushdil Previously Fined For Collision With NZ Bowler

Pakistan batter Khushdil Shah landed himself in serious trouble during the T20I series against New Zealand, as the ICC has found him guilty of inappropriate physical contact during the first match of the 5-game series.

The incident, which went viral online, saw Shah bizarrely barge into Kiwi bowler Zakary Foulkes during the 8th over of the match. As a result, Shah has been fined 50% of his match fees and slapped with 3 demerit points, just one short of triggering a ban.
