In a major breakthrough, Pakistan's star all-rounder Imad Wasim is set to be ruled out of the entire T20 World Cup 2024 due to a side strain injury.

The 35-year-old, who was included in Pakistan's main squad for the showpiece event after confirming a retirement u-turn, missed the first match against the USA for the same reason. While reports were coming that he was recovering well, and was set to play for the country against India on Sunday, the latest report from Samaa News confirmed that he is all set to return home.

However, the PCB team management is still trying hard to keep their star man against India, although it's very unlikely to happen.

"Imad Wasim is not fully fit he is still in pain but the team management wants Imad Wasim to be included in the match against India," a Samaa News statement read.

To replace Imad, Pakistan are set to bring in another left-arm orthodox bowler Mehran Mumtaz. The  21-year-old has been reportedly chosen by their head coach Gary Kirsten, and hence, he is frontrunner to join the Men in Green in the USA.

Pakistan had a disappointing defeat against the USA, in which they lost via Super Over following a disastrous performance altogether. No wonder they can afford any hiccups from hereon, making the India match a must-win encounter.
