Pakistan batter Haider Ali, who was found not guilty in a rape case filed in Manchester in September, was cleared by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to play franchise cricket.

This clears the 25-year-old to play the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) as PCB confirmed on Wednesday that No Objection Certificates (NOCs) have been issued for Haider Ali and nine other players. This allows all Pakistan players to play the event until January 23rd.

Why and how was Haider Ali banned?

Notably, after the rape allegations, Haider Ali has not been a part of any competitive cricket since September. As per a PTI report, he will now be able to participate in Bangladesh's prestigious franchise cricket, which held its auction after 12 years just a few days ago.

Notably, Haider Ali's career saw a topsy-turvy turn after a UK-born Pakistani woman accused him of rape while he was on his tour of England with the Pakistan Shaheens squad.

After the allegation was imposed, PCB took immediate action and suspended him immediately, describing the step as a precaution till the outcome of the ongoing investigation was brought out.

However, not much developed in the case for the Greater Manchester Police since they closed the file on September 25, concluding that there was insufficient evidence to arrest the cricketer or to put him in front of the court.

Haider Ali to feature for Noakhali Express

Haider Ali, who is not a well-known face in Pakistan cricket, has played 35 T20I games and 2 ODIs for the country, and joins BPL with NOC clearance alongside Muhammad Nawaz, Abrar Ahmed, Sahibzada Farhan, Faheem Ashraf, Hussain Talat, Khawaja Nafay, and Ehsanullah.

Notably, Haider Ali will feature in the squad of the newly formed BPL team Noakhali Express, who bought the Pakistan batter for $20,000 in the auction.
