In the latest turn of events, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, has confirmed the window for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season. As revealed by the PCB, the PSL 2026 season will have a direct collision with the IPL, with the tournament set to kick off on March 26.
PSL 11 to collide with IPL 2026 as PCB chief reveals dates
In an official press release, the PCB stated that chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed conducting the eleventh PSL season between March 26 and May 3. The tournament will witness its inaugural fixture on the 26th of March next year, with the final being played on the 3rd of May.
Considering the Indian Premier League also follows the March-June window, T20 leagues from the rival cricketing nations are set to collide for the second consecutive year. This means players who will bag IPL contracts in the 2026 mini auction might not feature in the PSL and vice-versa.
PCB plans to expand PSL in grand eleventh edition
The PCB also stated that the board plans to expand the Pakistan Super League for the eleventh edition of the competition. The league has witnessed six teams until now; however, the Multan Sultans' owner, Ali Tareen, recently walked off the tournament, citing differences with the governing body.
According to the latest update, the PCB has decided to add two new teams to the PSL 11. However, the auction for the new franchises will be conducted on January 8. The rights for those two new PSL teams will also be offered on the same day.
As per reports, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad and Gilgit are the six shortlisted cities, out of which only two will get a representative team in the PSL 11.
