As anticipated earlier, Pakistan have crashed out of the ongoing World Cup, failing to fulfil the impossible criteria to get past New Zealand in the points table. After England opted to bat, Pakistan had to dismiss them cheaply and chase the total quickly to stay alive in the competition. However, after Babar Azam and co. conceded 337 runs, they needed to gun down the target inside 6.2 overs, which was a practically impossible task.

Chasing 338, the Men in Green could manage only 30 in 6.2 overs, officially confirming their ouster from the marquee event.

Who plays whom: All about World Cup semifinals

Led by Rohit Sharma, India will enter the semifinals as the top-ranked team in the league-stage standings. The Men in Blue have 16 points, the most for any team in this World Cup.

They are followed by South Africa, placed second in the points table. Meanwhile, Australia, who have exactly same points as the Proteas, occupy the third spot due to their inferior net run rate. Their Trans-Tasman rivals, New Zealand, enter the knockouts with 10 points under their belt.

Therefore, as per the schedule, India will take on New Zealand in the first semifinal of the 2023 World Cup at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on November 15. Meanwhile, the second semifinal will be played between Australia and South Africa at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on the very next day.

The winning teams from both semifinals will meet each other in the all-important final scheduled at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19.
