In conversation with Ravichandran Ashwin on his YouTube channel, former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri had hinted at the possibility of taking on a managerial role as the head coach in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for any franchise despite following his impactful stint as the head coach of the Indian men's team from 2017 to 2021.

During Ravi Shastri's tenure as head coach, the Indian cricket team achieved significant success, including consecutive Test series victories against Australia.

He recalled the team's accomplishments, which included the final of the inaugural World Test Championship followed by making it to the semi-final of the 2019 World Cup.

"Not really. Not after doing India for seven years. You never know what can come up in the future and how involved you might want to get," Shastri said when asked about coaching in IPL on Ravichandran Ashwin's YouTube channel.

After stepping down as head coach, Ravi Shastri had returned to the commentary box for IPL following a seven-year association with the Indian team as the head coach.

"You don't rule that out. Once you have been involved with the game and played the game and you wanted to contribute to the youth, then that will always linger in your mind. It's not just the money part of it, but also the contributing factor. How you can get into the heads of the young kids and pass on the knowledge you have before you forget it yourself?" Shastri said.

After concluding his tenure with the Indian cricket team in 2021, Shastri resumed his career as a broadcaster.

Presently, he is lending his dynamic voice to the commentary panel for the ongoing edition of the IPL 2024. His unique style of introducing teams during the toss and his captivating commentary have made a lasting impression on audiences throughout various matches.
