In a significant development, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has approved the budget for the Champions Trophy 2025. Notably, Pakistan has the hosting rights of the mega event, which will be held in February-March next year.

While the PCB has revealed the mega event's tentative schedule, the BCCI has yet to receive the Indian government's approval to send its men's team to the neighbouring country.

Meanwhile, amid the ongoing cold war between the BCCI and PCB, the ICC has approved the Champions Trophy budget.

The apex cricketing body made the decision official on the last day of its annual conference in Colombo.

The PCB has already granted Rs 12.80 billion to renovate the Champions Trophy 2025 venues in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi.

ICC's chief finance officer, Ankur Khanna, and PCB's chief finance officer, Javed Murtaza, had prepared the budget.

Mohsin Naqvi represented Pakistan in the meeting, where little was discussed about the hybrid model.

Notably, the BCCI has apparently proposed a hybrid model, while the PCB is adamant about conducting the tournament entirely on Pakistani soil.

The PCB officials also plan to persuade BCCI Secretary Jay Shah to organize a bilateral T20I series between India and Pakistan after the Champions Trophy

If the BCCI boss agrees, England or Australia might conduct the series, having shown interest in hosting the arch-rivals.
