India's master blaster Sachin Tendulkar is the epitome of batting in World Cricket. The modern great is known for numerous records he possesses along with the batsmanship he showcased.

Exactly on this day 29 years back, Sachin slammed his first century in ODI cricket. After playing the format for more than 5 years, he couldn't touch the three figure mark in limited overs cricket. But he broke that jinx against Australia in Colombo in 1994.

The match was held as a part of quadrangular series between India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Australia. In this match, after electing to bat first, Manoj Prabhakar was sent to open along with Tendulkar. Both started off brilliantly against McGrath and McDermott before Prabhakar got out to Shane Warne.

Meanwhile, Tendulkar took his time before settling down and batted fluently although wickets kept falling from the other end. He played an important knock of 110 runs, studded with 8 fours and 2 sixes . His batting heroics helped India secure a clinical 32-run victory in the match.

Very few could have felt they were watching history unfolding in front of their eyes. This knock truly marked the beginning of a glorious career that expanded over more than two decades.

The World saw Tendulkar score 48  more ODI centuries and he holds the record for being the highest run getter in the format till now.

Interestingly, the legend's last international century came against Bangladesh in 2012 in this format. History was written in Mirpur that day, when Sachin took that single and reached the milestone of becoming the first and only cricketer in this planet to score 100 international centuries.
