'May it Rain Harder'- Venkatesh Prasad Voices Frustration Over Reserve Day For Ind vs Pak

Former Indian speedster Venkatesh Prasad launched a scathing attack on the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) following their decision to include a solitary reserve day for the India vs Pakistan Super 4 clash in the Asia Cup 2023

The ongoing Asia Cup tournament has been rocked by severe rain threats, leading to the abandonment of one blockbuster league-stage game. Besides, as we progress to the latter phases of the tournament, the weather forecast appears to be very grim.

India and Pakistan will once again come face-to-face in an all-important encounter this Sunday. With Sunday's forecast heading towards another possible India-Pakistan washout, the ACC proposed to add a reserve day for the marquee Super 4 contest.

However, no provision of such sort was made for the other Super 4 games that would feature the likes of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The decision to have a certain set of conditions for only select teams has been met with widespread criticism.

Venkatesh Prasad took to social media to express his discontent over ACC's irrational decision to include a reserve day for only one Super 4 clash.

“If true this is absolute shamelessness this. The organisers have made a mockery and it is unethical to have a tournament with rules being different for the other two teams. In the name of justice, will only be fair if it is abandoned the first day, may it rain harder on the second day and these malicious plans not succeed.”

Prasad was not the only one who was vocal about letting his feelings known. The upcoming Sri Lanka-Bangladesh game scheduled for Saturday is also under rain threat. Sri Lankan coach Chris Silverwood also expressed his concerns surrounding ACC's baffling decision not to include a reserve day for Saturday's fixture.

His views were later supported by his counterpart Chandika Hathurusingha, who also believed that his side (Bangladesh) deserved a reserve day for the clash to conclude should rain play the spoilsport.

With the weather forecast predicting heavy showers on Sunday and Monday, there is a high probability that rain may affect both days of the India-Pakistan clash.
