Official Update: Hardik Pandya Ruled Out World Cup Clash Vs New Zealand

It has been made official by the Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) that India's all-rounder, Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the World Cup clash against New Zealand on October 22.

Pandya, sustained an injury to his left ankle, during the World Cup game against Bangladesh, and was taken for scans as a precautionary measure and has been advised rest for a couple of days. 

As per a BCCI Press Release, Pandya will be under the observation of the BCCI medical team at NCA. It was during his first over of the day when Pandya injured his ankle while trying to stop a ball. The medical team attended him for several minutes before they decided to take him off the field.

The all-rounder will not take the flight to Dharamsala, where India are set to take on New Zealand in their next World Cup clash.


Here’s what BCCI said about Pandya in a press release

"Team India vice-captain Hardik Pandya sustained an injury to his left ankle while fielding on his own bowling during India’s match against Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune." 

"The all-rounder was taken for scans and is advised rest. He will be under the constant supervision of the BCCI Medical Team." 

"He will not be taking the flight to Dharamsala with the team on 20th October and will now join the team directly in Lucknow where India play England," BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah, said in a press release."

Hardik could only bowl 3 balls, before he limped off the field. Interestingly, Virat Kohli, who hardly bowls, completed the over for Team India.
