'Follow Your Routine And Keep...': Wasim Akram's Advice For Shaheen Afridi Ahead Of AUS Clash

As the spearhead of Pakistan's bowling attack, Shaheen Shah Afridi is not having the best of outings in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The star pacer has looked out of rhythm and failed to provide an impact against the opposition, which Afridi is known for.

Apart from form, a finger injury sustained during Asia Cup 2023 has caused problems for Afridi. In three WC matches, the 34-year-old has claimed four wickets at an average of 34.75, which is subpar compared to his ODI average of 23.86.

With Pakistan facing Australia today at Bangalore, former legend Wasim Akram has a few words of wisdom for the out-of-form left-armer.

Speaking on The Pavillion, Akram, fondly known as 'Sultan of Swing' asked Afridi to follow his routine and keep practicing, and not do anything out of the ordinary.

Here's what Akram said

“He has been bowling well. During the World Cup, what special he can do? Obviously, his confidence is low. But he’s a wicket-taking bowler, if you are not getting wickets, just be normal. Don’t do anything out of ordinary, follow your routine and keep practicing. Just one or two good spells is all he need to be back in form,”

The unavailability of Naseem Shah and the pressures of leading the pace battery have already burdened Afridi, who is also failing to find any support from the other end, with Haris Rauf also stumbling.
