In a recent update, Team India is set to announce the squad for the upcoming white-ball series against England on January 12. The series will begin on January 22 and will feature 5 T20Is and 3 ODIs. Following the disappointing loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, there are likely to be some changes in the squad.

With the Border-Gavaskar Trophy now behind them, India will turn its attention to the shorter formats of the game. The team will face England in a five-match T20I series, which will be a crucial opportunity to prepare for the 2026 T20 World Cup in India. Although the main focus is on the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025, the T20I series will help set the stage for the future.

While the official squad announcement will be made on January 12, it is expected that the team will be similar to the one that played in the T20Is in South Africa last year. Suryakumar Yadav will likely lead the T20I squad, while Rohit Sharma is expected to captain the ODI team and Shubman Gill as his deputy.

Key Changes and Updates

  • Mohammed Siraj: According to reports, Siraj will be rested for the T20Is against England to manage his workload. He will, however, be part of the ODI squad and will play a key role in the 2025 Champions Trophy.
  • Washington Sundar & Arshdeep Singh: These two players are expected to be included in the white-ball squad for the series.

The T20I series will kick off on January 22 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The ODI series will follow, starting on February 6 at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. Both teams are coming off losses in red-ball cricket and will be aiming to build momentum ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy.
