South African pacer Lungi Ngidi will be sitting out this year's IPL, but fans can expect to see him back in action for the T20 World Cup, slated to take place in the West Indies and USA.

Ngidi sustained a lower back injury while representing the Paarl Royals in South Africa's T20 league. As a result, he is currently undergoing recovery and will unfortunately miss the entire IPL season with his franchise, the Delhi Capitals. This setback also led to his absence from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) due to the injury. However, the Proteas pacer is expected to regain fitness in time for the upcoming T20 World Cup, as per the latest reports.

According to Cricket South Africa (CSA) reports, Ngidi is slated to make his comeback to domestic cricket action by April. CSA is closely observing his progress, with his rehabilitation currently being managed by his provincial team, Momentum Multiply Titans. Barring any setbacks, Ngidi is expected to rejoin the CSA circuit in the latter part of April.

Delhi Capitals Alternative for Ngidi Situation

Meanwhile, the Delhi Capitals have filled Ngidi's slot by signing the promising young Australian batsman Mike Fraser McGurk, who showcased his talent during the 2020 U19 World Cup in South Africa. On the field, McGurk is expected to step into the shoes of Harry Brook, who has opted out of this season's IPL.

Delhi Capitals made a strategic move by securing one of the most promising young talents in cricket. The addition of Mike Fraser McGurk not only bolsters their squad but also reflects their forward-thinking approach to nurturing talent for future success.
