Nitish Rana seems to be gearing up for the upcoming Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 season as the 31-year-old is signed up to represent the West Delhi Lions. The cricketer even shared a clip of his training session with the team on his social media accounts.
Notably, Rana’s training session caught attention for an entirely different reason as the cricketer was spotted sporting a Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) cap. It is worth noting that the explosive left-handed batter was released by the KKR franchise last year, prompting him to play for the Rajasthan Royals in this year’s IPL 2025.
Once A Knight, Always A Knight?
Nitish Rana, a KKR veteran of 90 IPL matches, still seems to be embracing the franchise’s ‘Purple’ essence even though the cricketer has switched to Rajasthan Royals. On Saturday, July 19, i.e., Rana was spotted wearing a KKR hat while performing a training session for the West Delhi Lions a few days prior to the launch of the DPL 2025 season in Delhi.
Despite spending seven seasons with the KKR franchise since IPL 2018, Nitish Rana was released by the team management ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction last year. The 31-year-old was subsequently acquired by the Rajasthan Royals for the IPL 2025 season.
Interestingly, Rana’s latest apparel choice has sparked an interesting speculation among fans, with many hinting at a possible future return to the KKR camp, particularly later this year during the IPL 2026 trading window. However, neither the cricketer nor the franchise have made any official announcement regarding the same.
“Loyalty Is Expensive…” When Nitish Rana’s Wife Slammed KKR
Shortly after Nitish Rana was released by the KKR last year, his wife Saachi Marwah criticised the franchise by sharing a cryptic message on her social media account. Taking note of Rana’s expansive IPL career donning the ‘Purple and Gold’, Marwah wrote: “Loyalty is very expensive” on the micro-blogging site.
