India Women won the first ODI in Southampton earlier this week to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series against hosts England. Team India also started off their England tour with a 3-2 win in the T20Is this month.

With momentum on their side, legendary fast bowler and former Indian cricketer has urged Harmanpreet Kaur and co. to seal the ongoing ODI series by a 3-0 margin.

Jhulan Goswami Livens Up Indians With Positive Pep Talk

The Indian Women’s cricket team is currently at Lord’s in London to prepare for the impending second ODI match of the series. Prior to the match, captain Harmanpreet Kaur and charismatic middle-order batter Jemimah Rodrigues caught up with former teammate Jhulan Goswami at the venue via a video call.

As they casually recollected memories over the call, Goswami urged Harmanpreet to make the most of their winning momentum by bagging the ODI series 3-0. The former Indian speedster recalled India’s previous 3-0 ODI sweep in England back in September 2022, urging the current ‘Women in Blue’ to replicate the same.

In a short video shared by BCCI Women on social media, Jhulan Goswami said:

“We won 3-0 for the first time in England, I hope you guys do the same.”

Notably, India’s 3-0 series win in England back in September 2022 also coincided with the international retirement of experienced Jhulan Goswami.

The speedster celebrated her swan song game, also at Lord’s in London, with impressive match-winning figures of 2-30 from her 10 overs. India, under Harmanpreet Kaur, won the match by 16 runs under controversial circumstances to seal the series 3-0.

India and England Women’s teams will now collide at Lord’s for the second ODI of the ongoing three-match series on Saturday, July 19. It is worth noting that no England Women’s team has defeated India in an ODI since March 2022, i.e., in more than three years.
