On Tuesday, Cricket Australia's CEO Nick Hockley announced his decision to step down by the end of the next cricket season after his 13 year stint with the Men In Yellow.

It has been understood that around the end of March 2025, or later, he will step down depending on the appointment of his successor.

“This was a difficult decision, however following what promises to be a blockbuster summer and with our five-year strategic plan well progressed, this is the right time to pursue another challenge, while giving the Board plenty of time to find its next CEO to build on the strong foundations now in place,” Hockley said in a press conference.

“This is not the time for goodbyes, as I remain completely focussed on the season ahead and supporting the Board on succession and a smooth transition.”

For the unknown Hockley took over the role of interim CEO back in 2020, however it was 11 months after that his 5 year long stint as permanent CEO began.

Under his guidance, the Australian team has achieved significant milestones, including the implementation of five-year strategy and securing significant media deals with Seven West Media, Foxtel Group, and Disney Star in India.
