Babar Azam, Pakistan's most celebrated international cricketer, is all set to be a part of Sydney Sixers' squad for the upcoming Big Bash League season. As the talismanic right-hander gears up for the tournament, the Sixers have announced the unveiling of a special fan zone at the Sydney Cricket Ground. 

Babaristan: Sydney Sixers announce new fan zone for Babar Azam

The iconic Sydney Cricket Ground serves as the Sixers' home ground in the Big Bash League. As Babar Azam is set to be a part of the Pink army for the upcoming BBL edition, the Sixers have unveiled a new fan zone in his name at the venue. The fan zone called 'Babaristan' is named after Babar Azam, who is expected to play a crucial role for the Sixers in the marquee event. 

The fan zone is meant to celebrate Babar Azam's maiden Big Bash League stint, offering an exclusive area for his fans to witness his batting artistry throughout the competition. 

"Introducing Babaristan, A fan zone like no other, celebrating cricket culture and the arrival of Babar Azam," Sydney Sixers posted on their official handle on social media platform X (formerly Twitter)

Babar Azam reacts to Sixers' heartwarming gesture

In his reaction, Babar Azam expressed his gratitude towards Sydney Sixers. In a video shared by the Sixers on their official X handle, Babar Azam invited the Sixers' fans to support the team in their home matches, saying, 

"Hello everyone! I am Babar Azam. I am very excited to invite you all to Babaristan support zone at the Sydney Sixers' home matches at the SCG. Let's bring your passion and make SCG our home."

Babar Azam makes T20I comeback before BBL stint

Babar Azam slammed a valiant fifty in the second Test against South Africa and eventually received a recall into Pakistan's T20I side for three matches against the Proteas. The series will give Babar ample game time, which he can utilise to make his maiden BBL stint memorable for the Sixers.
