Jay Shah's cricket administration journey began in 2009 when he joined the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) as an Executive Board Member. He served in this role for four years before and later on became the joint secretary of the GCA from 2013 to 2015.

After gaining valuable experience at the state level, Shah transitioned to the national stage and joined BCCI's finance and marketing committee in 2015.
