Afghanistan fast bowler Naveen-Ul-Haq once again managed to make headlines for all the wrong reasons. After being in the news for uncanny on-field antics, the speedster landed on the wrong side of ILT20's team, the Sharjah Warriors.

ILT20 is a franchise league hosted by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Cricket Board. Its inaugural season went on floors earlier this year, where Naveen-Ul-Haq marked his presence. Sharjah Warriors signed him for the inaugural season of the newly established tournament.

However, when the Warriors sent him a retention notice for the second leg, the Afghanistan pace refused to accept the offer.

Apparently, the retention offer was formulated with the same terms and conditions as the tournament's player agreement terms.

Naveen-Ul-Haq Faces Ban From ILT20

But as Naveen declined the offer, he was slapped with an extended stay order as a repercussion. As reported by Crictracker, Naveen-Ul-Haq has been banned from ILT20 participation for 20 months over an alleged breach of contract with Sharjah Warriors.

Having said that, neither Naveen nor the franchise in question has reacted to the news. Moreover, we await further details as ILT20 authorities have yet to issue a statement.

It's important to note that the pacer's ban is likely restricted to ILT20 participation only. The recent events won't hamper Naveen's further participation in IPL as a Lucknow Super Giants pacer.

That said, Naveen-Ul-Haq retired from the ODI format to deviate his focus on the shorter format. He intended to be a T20 specialist player and thus participated in every franchise league he could to gain experience.

Association with Sharjah Warriors also seemed a part of the same plan. However, the decision to turn down the extension offer is currently backfiring on the fast bowler.

For further context, the second season of ILT20 is scheduled to kick off on 19th January 2024, with the finals being held on 17th February in the UAE.
