The Australian cricket team handed Pakistan a humiliating defeat in the first round of a three-game test series at Perth. David Warner's heroic show helped the Aussies put up a mammoth first-inning total of 487, which proved to be extra steep for the men in green.

Shan Masood's led side was bowled out for 271 runs, which allowed Australia to come out with a gigantic 217 run lead in its second innings. Pat Cummins announced the declaration during the second session of the fourth day, leaving Pakistan with a strenuous chase of 450 runs.

Subsequently, Pakistan collapsed under pressure as they were bundled for 89 runs in 30.2 overs. Nathan Lyon emerged as the star of the game as he picked a historic 500th Test career wicket to guide his side to a comfortable victory.

Michael Vaughan Takes Brutal Dig At Pakistan

Meanwhile, former England captain Michael Vaughan reacted to Australia's commanding victory over dispirited Pakistan and heaped praise on India in the process.

On his X handle, Vaughan lauded Aussie's all-round effort whilst congratulating Lyon for his historic milestone. He further asserted how Aussies are equipped to fight in any given condition. That is an incredible achievement for any competitive team, in Vaughan's eyes.

Having said that, Michael Vaughan added that amongst test-playing nations across the globe, only India is equipped with the necessary skill set and talent to compete with the mighty Australia.

"Aussies are so clinical .. they have everything covered for all conditions .. Well done to @NathLyon421 on 500 Test wickets .. Incredible achievement .. Only @BCCI have the tools to compete here in Oz at this stage .. #AUSvsPAK," wrote Vaughan on his X handle.

That being said, Michael Vaughan's claims are not completely false. While Pakistan has not won a test game on Australian soil in the past 27 years, India pulled off a heroic show during the Border Gavaskar Trophy held in 2021.

A complete team effort and utmost resilience put India at the forefront despite having half of the regular players on the bench due to injuries and unforeseen circumstances. Most importantly, the infamous breach of the Gabba fortress is still etched in the heart of every Indian cricket fan.
