Afghanistan speedster Naveen-Ul-Haq landed on the wrong side of Indian fans after a scuffle broke out between him and Indian batting stalwart Virat Kohli during an IPL game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Supergiants earlier this year.

Harmless sledging turned into a full-fledged confrontation after LSG's mentor, Gautam Gambhir's intervention. In a bid to defend his player, Naveen, Gambhir lashed out at Virat on the field while the other tried to separate the duo.

In the aftermath of the incident, the Afghanistan bowler was subject to intense criticism and trolling from the Indian fans. The crowd sledged him at every venue he played on with "Kohli….Kohli" chants.

As things escalated, Virat Kohli offered a truce during the World Cup game between Afghanistan and India, wherein he shook hands and hugged the bowler whilst requesting the fans to shower some respect.

Naveen-Ul-Haq Explains "Sweet Mango" Controversy

After the truce, Naveen-Ul-Haq sat down for a chat with LSG and opened up about the events that unfolded after the incident, which led to brutal trolling. A few days after the scuffle, Naveen shared a photo of a plate filled with mangoes whilst enjoying a game between MI and RCB wherein Virat Kohli was bowled out after scoring a mere one run.

Fans speculated that the post was intended to poke fun at the Indian great. However, Naveen clarified the episode, saying the post was not meant to be directed towards Kohli. He had a conversation with teammate Dhawal Kulkarni, asking the latter to provide him with some good-quality mangoes.

“I told Dhawal (Kulkarni) Bhai when would he get mangoes for me as it was the season. He brought mangoes for me on that very day when MI was up against RCB. I was watching the game and put up a random post and the picture I put not even had Virat in it. My post showed Mumbai Indians players,” he told LSG.

Coincidentally, Kulkarni happened to bring the mangoes the same day as the MI and RCB game was scheduled. Thus, ultimately, the whole incident was a mere coincidence, and fans took it out of context, says Naveen-Ul-Haq.

To date, the pacer has the utmost respect for Virat Kohli, and after the truce, everything is fine between the two cricketers.
