In a significant development, India's star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has ended his County stint early and has returned home due to personal reasons. The right-arm wrist spinner represented Northamptonshire, but will now miss the last three games for his club.

The county club took to the social media platform to update fans about Yuzi Chahal's departure and also thanked the Indian spinner for his valuable contribution.

"Yuzi Chahal won't be involved in our remaining three @CountyChamp games after returning home due to personal reasons. We'd like to thank Yuzi for all of his efforts and contributions this season," wrote Northamptonshire in their official account.

Neither Northamptonshire nor Yuzi Chahal himself provided the details behind his early departure. Nonetheless, the 35-year-old featured in his second straight year for Northamptonshire and has done well for the County.

Chahal Shines For Northamptonshire

Talking about the ongoing season, the spinner has taken 12 wickets in three Division Two matches this season. Not only the County Championship, but Chahal also featured for Northamptonshire in the One-Day Cup, where he took six wickets in six matches.

Notably, Yuzi is out of the scheme of things in Indian cricket, and his last appearance for the national team was back in August 2023 when he featured against the West Indies in the T20I series.

Chahal Follows Khaleel Ahmed's Footsteps

Notably, Yuzvendra Chahal is not the first Indian to leave County cricket midway this season as Khaleel Ahmed too had ended his association with Essex cricket mid-season because of personal reasons.

In June 2025, Khaleel signed with Essex to play both County Championship and One-Day Cup but ended his stint early and did not disclose the reason behind his decision.
