Former Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim completed a milestone with gloves in the clash against Sri Lanka on Thursday. One of the most experienced players in the current Bangladesh team, Mushfiqur had a record in front of him, and he took no time to achieve this feat. After completing his 100th international stumping, he became the fourth wicketkeeper to register his name under this record.

The Bangladesh team was miserable in their first match of the Asia Cup, as they managed to put up only 164 runs in front of Sri Lanka. Mushfiqur too did not have a great day with the bat and scored just 13 runs.

The match was hanging in balance when Samarawickrama and Charith Asalanka were in the middle. While facing Mehidy Hasan in the 30th over, Samarawickrama stepped out of the crease and could not reach the ball which eventually ended up in the hands of Mushfiqur. The man behind the wickets did nothing wrong to clip the stumps and completed his milestone.

The top five spots of the record of most stumpings in international cricket are acquired by the Asian players. MS Dhoni, one of the greatest wicket-keepers in the world, owns the first spot with 195 stumpings in his career of 538 games. While Mushfiqur took 417 innings to reach this milestone and is currently at the fourth spot.

Kumar Sangakkara, Romesh Kaluwitharana and Moin Khan are the other three Asian players among the top five players with the highest number of international stumpings.

After losing their first game of the tournament against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh have a slight chance of qualifying for the next round. The game against Afghanistan will be a must-win game for them if they are looking for a spot in the Super Fours.
