Bangladesh's rise in world cricket in last decade or so has been quite encouraging and we have seen number of world-class players rising up from a small-Bengali dominant country. Shakib Al Hasan is undoubtedly the biggest of them all but the likes of Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal, Mashrafe Mortaza and Mahmudullah all have played big role in making Bangladesh a prominent force in world cricket.

Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim are now playing their fifth World Cup and are the stalwarts of Bangladesh cricket, still going strong and looking to make a big impact for their side.

In the game against India in World Cup 2023 at Pune, Mushfiqur Rahim has joined Shakib Al Hasan in an elite list, after becoming only the second Bangladesh player to score 1000 or more runs in 50-over World Cup. Shakib Al Hasan has 1201 in 32 matches with an average of 42.89 and has two hundreds and 10 fifties. Rahim, on the other hand,  has reached the landmark of 1000 runs in 33rd match and has an average of 40. 64 with one hundred and eight fifties to his name.

Tamim Iqbal is third on the list with 718 runs in 29 matches followed by Mahmudullah and Soumya Sarkar. This list clearly emphasises the importance of Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim in the Bangladesh setup and they would need to bring their A-game onto the table if Bangladesh wants to do well in this marquee event in India.
