Australia enter the battleground to face Pakistan at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore for the ICC World Cup 2023 league-stage encounter on Friday (October 20). The five-time champions lock horns with the Asian giants as the race to bag the final four spots intensifies.

The Aussies came face to face with the stiff nature of an open World Cup after being battered and bruised by India and South Africa in their first two matches. Even though Pat Cummins' men dominated Sri Lanka in the third outing in Lucknow, talks remain how they haven't really arrived so far.

Up against them will be the mercurial Pakistanis, who were given a harsh reality check by tournament hosts and arch-rivals India in the last match in Ahmedabad. Enjoying the highs after pushing aside the Netherlands and Sri Lanka in their first two matches, Pakistan's lack of depth and inexperience got woefully exposed against the two-time winners.

Still, they are enroute to Bangalore in a more comfortable spot in the World Cup standings. Babar Azam & company are fourth in the points table with two victories and a solitary defeat, while the Aussies hold the seventh spot despite their make-amends win over the Lankan Lions.
