On Wednesday, May 6, Mumbai Indians locked horns against Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium. It was a nail-biting thriller as the Shubman Gill-led side registered a win off the last ball to topple RCB at the top of the table.
Notably, in the rain-reduced game, MI, batting first, put 155/8 on the board after 20 overs. In the 2nd innings, strong winds took over the Wankhede, and the GT stars had pressure to better the DLS par-score.
Mumbai Indians Accused Of Match-Fixing
In the 14th over, the covers were on because of heavy rain and GT were ahead of MI as per DLS method. However, MI made a strong return and the game was again halted for a while after the 18th over of the match, which is when MI were ahead of GT.
Eventually, the umpires went ahead with just one over and asked GT to score 15. Rahul Tewatia was the man of the hour for the Titans and GT sealed 2 points. Despite the defeat for MI, the Hardik Pandya-led side have landed themselves in hot waters as a video has emerged where a MI staff was captured using a mobile phone in the dugout.
It is worth noting that mobile phones are strictly prohibited on the ground. Thus, this violation of this law has made the fans take to social media platforms where they accused MI of match fixing. With the defeat, MI are now placed fourth on the table with 14 points in 12 matches and they will now face Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals.
