On Monday, May 5, Sunrisers Hyderabad locked horns against Delhi Capitals at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium. The hosts won the toss and opted to field first. It was a brilliant decision by Pat Cummins as the Capitals lost four wickets within the powerplay, which left them crippled. 

Notably, SRH Captain stole the limelight, as the right-arm seamer took three wickets in the powerplay as he bowled three overs. Notably, Cummins got a wicket off the first ball of the match as he sent Karun Nair packing for a golden duck. Further, Cummins took a wicket on the first ball of every over. 

Pat Cummins Script History Against Delhi Capitals

With the feat, Pat Cummins scripted history as he became the first IPL captain in the league's history to take three wickets within the powerplay. He took the crucial wickets of Karun Nair, Faf Du Plessis, and Abishek Porel. Further, all the three wickets were caught by Ishan Kishan. 

Previously, six IPL captains took two wickets in the powerplay with Zaheer Khan doing it four times. DC. More interestingly, the previous best such figures were Cummins’ opposite number on the day, Axar Patel’s 2/10 earlier in the season against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the capital.

Cummins performed for the Men in Orange in the do or die game as SRH are placed 9th on the table with just three wins in 10 matches. Talking about the ongoing match, at the time of writing this article, Delhi Capitals are 115/6 after 18.3 overs.
