MS Dhoni is, undoubtedly, one of the biggest superstars in the country at present. Despite being retired from international cricket a few years ago, the fans still have the same level of respect for the legendary cricketer.

Throughout his international cricket career, he has managed to garner love and respect not only from his fans but from his teammates as well.

Dhoni is currently leading the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League and just like in the Indian camp, MS Dhoni earns a lot of respect from his team-mates and support staff in the dressing room of that franchise, something which he believes is important to excel as a leader.

During a function organized by Single.ID, a first-of-its-kind cross reward programme identifier, Dhoni emphasized on earning respect as a leader in order to expect loyalty from the players.

“Loyalty has a lot to do with the respect factor. When you talk about the dressing room, unless the support staff or players respect you, it is difficult to get that loyalty. It is actually about what you are doing and not about what you are speaking. You may not actually speak anything, but your conduct can earn that respect," MS Dhoni said.

“I always felt that earning respect is important as it does not come with the chair or rank. It comes with your conduct. People are insecure at times. Sometimes, even if the team believes in you, you are actually the first person who will not believe in you. To sum it up, don’t try to command respect but earn it, as it is very organic. Once you have that loyalty then the performance too will follow,” he added.

MS Dhoni set to lead Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024

The legendary captain is all set to lead the Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. The Yellow Army became the joint-most successful franchise along with MI after winning their fifth title last season.

All five titles came under the leadership of Mahendra Dhoni Singh and the Ranchi cricketer would be looking to add another trophy under his cabinet ahead of the upcoming season.

He had trouble with his knee last season and also underwent a successful knee surgery after the completion of the tournament. He has been recovering quite well and is likely to be fully fit before the start of the 2024 IPL season.

In his illustrious IPL career, MS Dhoni has over 5000 runs to his name in 250 matches at an average of 38.79.
