India and England are all set to begin their five-match Test series on June 20 at Headingley, Leeds. This series is extra special because it marks the start of a new chapter for Team India. Shubman Gill will lead India as the new Test captain, taking over after the retirement of legends like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. It also kicks off the new 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle for both teams.

Cheteshwar Pujara Attends India’s Practice Session

Before the first match, Cheteshwar Pujara, who once held the important No. 3 spot in India's batting lineup was seen joining Team India’s practice session. Though he is not part of the current squad, he came to catch up with old teammates and coaches at Headingley.

There was a fun moment during practice when Pujara met bowling coach Morne Morkel and spinner Kuldeep Yadav. The three shared a light-hearted chat

At one point, Morkel joked to Pujara, saying, “He’s keeping me on my toes!” while pointing to Kuldeep. The comment made everyone laugh.

Shubman Gill Remains Silent On Who Would Bat At No.3

Meanwhile, India’s batting order is going through big changes. With Kohli and Rohit no longer playing Tests, Shubman Gill will now bat at number four, filling Kohli’s spot. Gill confirmed this decision was made after a chat with head coach Gautam Gambhir.

“After Virat bhai retired, GG bhai and I talked and we both agreed that I should move to number four. I also wanted to bat there,” Gill said in a press conference.

Now that Gill is moving down the order, the big question is, who will bat at number three? Names like Sai Sudharsan, Karun Nair, and Abhimanyu Easwaran are being considered, but nothing is final yet.

In the same conference, Gill didn't reveal the name and said that they are still deciding the final playing XI, especially since the pitch conditions are different this time.
