India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has been sidelined for the upcoming ODI series against Ireland. She sustained a knee injury during the recent home series against West Indies, which forced her to miss the last two T20Is of that series before making a brief return for the ODI matches. Now, she has been advised to report to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for further recovery and assessment.
Harmanpreet Kaur’s knee injury first surfaced in December 2024 during the series against West Indies. After sitting out of two T20Is, she made a comeback for the three-match ODI series but continued to struggle with her fitness. The decision to rest her for the Ireland series comes as a precautionary measure to ensure she regains full fitness ahead of future tournaments.
According to reports from Cricbuzz, the NCA staff will monitor her recovery process. This move is aimed at preventing any aggravation of her injury, keeping in mind the busy cricket calendar ahead.
Meanwhile, Smriti Mandhana will step in as the captain for this series, with Deepti Sharma named as her deputy.
