Ambati Rayudu is set to represent MI Emirates in the upcoming ILT20 2024 season. The UAE-based franchise is itself owned by IPL giants and Rayudu’s former team Mumbai Indians.

At MI Emirates, the cricketer will be joined by his ex-Mumbai Indians teammates Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo.

Ambati Rayudu to return to Mumbai Indians roots

Former India cricketer Ambati Rayudu is set to make his return to competitive cricket through the upcoming ILT20 2024 season in the UAE. The 38-year-old previously played a handful of CPL 2023 matches for the St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots franchise back in August last year.

Rayudu also starred for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) brigade in their IPL 2023 run under MS Dhoni. The explosive middle-order batsman scored handy match-winning runs in the final against Gujarat Titans back in May 2023 before making his exit from IPL.

Previously a part of the Mumbai Indians franchise from IPL 2010 till 2017, Rayudu will now ply his trade for MI Emirates at the ILT20 2024 event, set to commence from January 19 onwards in the UAE. The MI Emirates franchise itself is owned by Mumbai Indians, and the team consists of several former MI stars and Rayudu’s ex-teammates like Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the 38-year-old confirmed his ILT20 2024 participation for the MI Emirates.

Rayudu wrote: “I Ambati Rayudu will be representing the Mumbai Indians in the upcoming ILt20 from Jan 20th in Dubai. Which requires me to be politically non-affiliated whilst playing professional sport.”

The MI Emirates will commence their ILT20 2024 campaign with a match against Dubai Capitals. The much-awaited contest will be hosted by the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on January 20.

Kieron Pollard and co. will subsequently travel to Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium for a match against defending champions Gulf Giants on January 21.
