In a recent development, the India ace fast bowler, Mohammed Shami, is likely to make a comeback for India in the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. 

As reported by ESPNCricinfo, the veteran pacer, who has been sidelined for a while due to ankle surgery, could be ready to be back in action when India face Bangladesh in mid-September. 


Will Mohammed Shami Play In Test Series Against Bangladesh?  

Shami has been making significant strides in his recovery from an ankle injury that has kept him out of action since the ODI World Cup in November 2023. 

The injury, which initially seemed minor, worsened, leading to surgery and a prolonged recovery period. Shami had been a crucial part of India's campaign in the ODI World Cup as he scalped 24 wickets in just seven matches.

His recovery process involved extensive rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, where he is currently in the final stages of his rehab. 

According to the same reports, the selectors are also considering whether Shami should play in the Duleep Trophy, which is scheduled to start on September 5 in Anantapur, to prove his match fitness. 

Shami resumed bowling last month, and his progress has been closely monitored by the selectors. With India's home season approaching, which includes a two-match Test series against Bangladesh in September. 

It will be interesting to see if Mohammed Shami is available and fit to play against Bangladesh. A decision on this will be made soon, depending on his readiness and fitness levels as assessed by the NCA.
