Mohammed Shami was one of the star performers for India in World Cup 2023, but since then has been out of action because of a heel injury and went through a successful surgery on Achilles Tendon in February 2024. Now, after a long rehabilitation, India Today has reported that he is likely to make his much-awaited comeback at the start of India's home season against Bangladesh.

India are set to play to play two Test matches against Bangladesh starting on 19th of September in Chennai while the second Test will be played in Kanpur. Shami is likely to be selected for the Test series, but it seems that he will not be part of he T20I series that is to be followed after the Test matches.

The right-arm pacer has been a consistent performer for India for almost a decade now, and has been a vital part of India’s pace resurgence in the Test format. The 33-year-old has taken 229 wickets in 64 Test matches so far, and along with Bumrah, he has been India’s standout pacer.

There is a bit of doubt over his future in white-ball formats with injuries constantly hampering his progress, and we might just see him concentrating his full energy on Test cricket in the coming years.
