In a big test of the 2024 T20 World Cup Super 8 round, Afghanistan will face mighty Australia at Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown. The challenging contest will go on floors on June 23, 6.00 AM IST.

Afghanistan have proved this year that they belong in international cricket and truly deserve to be one of the contenders for an ICC title win. Rashid Khan and his guys stunned New Zealand to qualify for the Super 8 round from Group C alongside West Indies.

However, the beginning of the Super 8 round was underwhelming as Afghanistan imploded against India to suffer a 47-run defeat. While the bowlers did a fantastic job to restrict India to 181 runs total, batters caused an unwarranted collapse.

Afghanistan face stern Aussie Test

And if the India test were this challenging, Afghanistan's troubles would only increase against a formidable unit like Australia. Much like India, Australia are unbeaten in the tournament as well with a much balanced and in-form lineup.

That being said, despite a rare defeat against India, Rashid Khan does not have the luxury of many options on the bench. Nabi and Noor's experience is way superior to Karim Janat's. 

Additionally, Naveen and Farooqi have been matchwinners for Afghanistan in the past. While Naveen went for 40 runs in the previous game, Rashid could opt for Fareed Ahmad Malik as a replacement. But then again, Naveen-Ul-Haq's experience and accuracy are much better compared to Fareed's.

On the other hand, Rashid Khan is unlikely to make any changes to the batting order as well as the two guys on the bench are barely 20 years old with no experience. And Gurbaz, Hazratullah Zazai, Gulbadin Naib and Ibrahim Zadra have had their moments in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Hence, Rashid Khan will need to trust his boys and go with the same playing XI against Australia.
