The visitors secured a dramatic victory on the fifth day of the first Test between India and New Zealand at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium. They successfully chased down the modest target of 107 runs with an unbeaten partnership between Will Young  and Rachin Ravindra.

India had fleeting hopes of defending their low target when Bumrah removed New Zealand captain Tom Latham for a duck and followed it up by dismissing Devon Conway, who had looked in good touch before falling for 29. However, with the modest total in their sights, the calm and composed partnership between Ravindra and Young held firm, and guided New Zealand to victory without further loss.

Rachin Ravindra's Overall Performance In The 1st Test

Rachin Ravindra continued to impress in the final innings as well as he played a steady and assured knock to ensure New Zealand’s win. This effort came after his stellar performance in the first innings, where he scored a brilliant 134 off just 157 balls to lead New Zealand to a commanding total of 402. His aggressive stroke play and assured footwork on a tricky surface proved too much for the Indian bowlers to handle.

He was undoubtedly the standout performer of the match. He not only played a match-defining first-innings century but also contributed an unbeaten 39 in the chase, leading New Zealand to a comfortable win. His composure under pressure and ability to adapt to the conditions made him the Player of the Match.

In his post-match interview, Rachin Ravindra expressed his delight at the victory and his performance. He shares a special bond with India as his parents hails from Bengaluru and has also played IPL with CSK. So, after the match, he credited the fans for their endless support.

"Yeah, it's a nice city, nice wicket to bat on so I enjoyed my time.I have prepared myself for these turning pitches and when you have 6 test matches in a row in sub-continent wickets, you always have to be prepared. In Chennai, I wanted to have a look at how to play on red soil and black soil pitches. Over there, the surface was different but really happy with the effort the guys put on out there for me. Yeah, I just try to be in good positions to keep scoring runs to be honest. Yeah, it's really nice to have my family out here. They love watching me play on TV and it was a really nice support out here. I enjoyed my time coming out here and play.
